1. About these terms
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of SM Portal at smportal.org. By registering a school account or using the platform, you agree to these terms. If you use the platform on behalf of a school, you confirm that you are authorized to act for that school.
2. School accounts and access
- Schools must provide accurate registration and contact information and keep it current.
- The school is responsible for managing its administrator and user accounts, assigning appropriate access, and protecting login credentials.
- Users must keep their credentials confidential and promptly report suspected unauthorized access.
- Schools are responsible for ensuring that users, including students and parents, are authorized to access their school workspace.
3. School data and responsibilities
Schools remain responsible for the information they enter or upload, including student, parent, staff, academic and financial records. Schools must have the rights and permissions needed to provide that information and must use the platform in line with applicable privacy and safeguarding requirements.
SM Portal processes school data to provide, maintain, secure and support the platform. See our Privacy Policy for more information.
4. Acceptable use
You and your users must not misuse the platform. This includes attempting unauthorized access, disrupting service, uploading unlawful or harmful material, infringing another party’s rights, or using the platform to impersonate another person.
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users, school data, the platform or its operation, or to address a breach of these terms.
5. Fees and payment terms
Any applicable subscription or service fees, billing periods, and payment terms will be communicated to the school separately. These terms do not set prices. Schools should contact SM Portal for current plan information. Refund requests are handled under our Refund Policy.
6. Service availability and changes
We work to keep SM Portal available and secure, but access may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance, updates, technical issues or circumstances outside our reasonable control. We may update features to improve or maintain the service.
7. Intellectual property
SM Portal and its software, branding and materials are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. We grant users a limited right to use the platform for their school’s operations while their access is authorized. Schools retain responsibility for and rights to their own submitted content.
8. Disclaimers and liability
The platform is provided to support school administration. Schools remain responsible for their decisions, records, user access and compliance obligations. To the extent permitted by applicable law, SM Portal is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for interruption caused by factors beyond our reasonable control.
9. Suspension and termination
A school may stop using the platform by contacting us. We may suspend or end access where required to protect the service or users, comply with law, address a serious breach, or as otherwise communicated to the school. Schools should contact us about data export or account closure.
10. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms as the platform changes. The current version will be posted on this page with its revision date. Continued use after updated terms take effect means the school accepts them.
